Analysts from the DeepState project report that Ukrainian defenders have restored their position near Torske in the Donetsk Oblast.

In 2022 Russian forces occupied the village of Torske near Lyman in Donetsk Oblast. The Ukrainian military liberated Torske, which is located on the road to Luhansk’s city of Kreminna, in October 2022.

The report also notes that Russian forces have advanced in several other areas. According to DeepState, enemy troops have advanced near Kolesnikivka, Nevske, Novosadove, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, and Zhelanne Pershe.

This development comes amid ongoing fighting in eastern Ukraine, where both sides have been engaged in intense combat operations around Chasiv Yar.

The area around Chasiv Yar and Niu York (New York) is strategically significant for Ukraine as it forms part of the defensive line protecting key cities in the Donetsk Oblast.

Chasiv Yar, situated on higher ground west of Bakhmut, serves as a crucial observation point and natural barrier against Russian advances, while Niu York, located north of Horlivka, is an important stronghold on the frontline.

Maintaining control of these areas allows Ukraine to defend against further Russian incursions, protect supply routes, and potentially launch counter-offensives.
